Holler from the University of Northern Iowa!

Dear Elder Morain Fan Club,

How has everybody been? I've been lovin it here in Waterloo! Happy belated Pioneer Day to everyone! Our Ward here celebrated it with a picnic and it was a lot of fun. Our Sacrament meeting talks were on the sacrifice of our pioneers too. I am developing much more of a gratitude for the pioneers here in Iowa as I see the handcart park in Iowa City...to Mount Pisgah...to Winter Quarters...and to Nauvoo. What a blessing it has been to have these sites so close to the areas I serve in on my mission.
So on Wednesday my old companion Elder Thomas( who I served with my last 6 weeks in Ames) came to Waterloo to be in a 3 some with Elder Gillespie and I! It was great to reminisce with him...and he is my zone leader now. They combined the Cedar Rapids zone with our zone this transfer. So tomorrow I get to drive down to Cedar Rapids for zone conference! I am excited for it. Serving in Waterloo means I have served in all 5 stakes in our mission! Crazy how that worked out.
On friday we had a lesson with our investigator Arielle. And yesterday she came to all 3 hours of church! Also Gene who lives in Cedar Falls came to our church. We cut wood for him every week for service. We also do service at a Golf Course so Elder Gillespie and I get to drive around on a golf cart and do lil projects for em. We also golfed on monday and it was a blast.
The University of Northern Iowa is here in Cedar Falls, right next to Waterloo. So here I am in another College town haha. I love it here and the members are so awesome. Its a great day to be a missionary eh? I'd like to thank all of you for everything you do for me to support me out here. I truly feel the answers to your prayers in my behalf daily. I have been so blessed throughout my mission.
Well until next week,

I'm serving in Waterloo Iowa!

Dear Elder Morain Fan Club,

Ladies and Gentlemen, it doesn't get any better than this. I have been transferred to Waterloo Iowa! My companion is Elder Gillespie...ring any bells? He is like my best friend out here in the mission! I have mentioned him many times in my emails. I am so excited to be serving here with him. It is a straight up miracle they put us together here. So I am happy as can be with what happened to me with transfers.
Since I last emailed ya on wednesday a lot has happened. I said my goodbyes to all the amazing people of Iowa City and got on the transfer van with no idea where I was going. Then I got here to Waterloo and have been lovin it ever since.
Yesterday I hit my 16 month mark...that means I am 2/3 done with my mission. Only 8 months left, I can't believe how fast it is going! I have been so blessed these past 16 months with amazing areas with such awesome people that have touched my life. I look forward to serving here in Waterloo a while, cuz Elder Gillespie only has 6 weeks left on his mission. Waterloo is the 3rd biggest city in our mission, so this is the biggest city I have served in so far on my mission! The ward is awesome, so many strong members here. I'm so grateful I have the chance to be a full time missionary here in Waterloo.
Until next week,

I'm gettin transferred!

Dear Elder Morain Fan club,

I got the phone call this morning informing me that I am getting TRANSFERRED tomorrow. I don't have much time but I want to tell you about my trip to Nauvoo! On July 7th last tuesday we drove first to the Carthage jail. Then we went to Nauvoo and went to the Visitors center. We did an endowment session. Then we saw a play by the young performing missionaries. We watched Sunset on the Mississippi another play. Then we watched the Nauvoo Pagaent! It was pouring rain so hard during the whole pagaent! I got to talk to Elder Neaunschwander, who did a mission tour here last november! It was the best day of my life! I loved it so much. I felt the spirit so strong there.
I am sad to get transferred and leave all the people here that I love so much. I will never forget the examples of these amazing people have set for me. But nevertheless, I will go where the Lord wants me to go. I love you all and thanks so much for the support you give me on my mission.

I'm goin to the Nauvoo Pageant tomorrow!

Dear Elder Morain Fan Club,

How was everyones 4th of July? I hope it was good for ya'll cuz mine was a blast! Our ward had a 4th of July breakfast so we got to go. We got to play ultimate frisbee with the Young Single Adult branch which was pretty fun. Here is a history fact for you, Iowa City used to be the capital of Iowa before Des Moines. So we got to watch the fireworks go off downtown Iowa City right behind the Old State Capitol Building. It was a kodak moment fo sho. We got permission to stay out till 10:30 pm so we could watch the fireworks. It was a fun time.
I just found out that tomorrow I get to go down to Nauvoo for the day! We get to do an endowment session at the Temple. Tomorrow night is the opening night of the Nauvoo Pageant so we get to see it! I have heard so many good things about the Nauvoo Pageant so I'm really excited I have the opportunity to go see it. I'll make sure to tell you all about it the next time I get to email, which is Wednesday July 15th, because transfers are on July 16th. My mission president told me I am getting transferred. I am really sad to leave Iowa City and all the amazing people I have grown to love over the past 4 months serving them. There are so many people here that are my heroes and who have inspired me and helped me out so much. But I'll go where the Lord wants me to go. Thank you for all of your support you have given me on my mission. I feel the answers to your prayers in my life every day.
